After working in trauma and women’s health for a few years, I realized it was time to pursue my passion in caring for a different kind of species, animals. This discovery was amplified through my time volunteering at Austin Pets Alive! and The Humane Society, and being a pet owner myself. My senior Pomeranian, Gizmo, is my world, and I truly understand the close connections people have with their pets. A career in dog grooming was a perfect way for me to combine my love for dogs and my artistic side, and it has proven to be a dream come true.
After building a client base as a grooming contractor downtown, I launched Austin Pet Stylist out of my home. Since those early days, I’m fortunate to have grown my loyal client base of 400 fun-loving pets and the wait list for my services started to stack up. That’s when I knew it was time to look for a brick and mortar location so I could add additional staff and prevent our business growth from stalling and not compromise my level of service.
Opening a location takes additional working capital for new staff, the buildout, supplies, contractors to manage the project and lease deposits. I was thankful to learn of Able within my personal network right when I was searching for external funding.
“When the time came to recruit Backers, it was easy for me to think of my biggest supporters–friends and family who believe in me. And, it helped provide peace of mind to me and my Backers that Able provided structured loan documents and transparent terms.”
I’m close to opening the first brick and mortar location for Austin Pet Stylist and thankful for the support of the Able Network that is making it possible.
